About the Little Hands - Big Hearts Organizationboy with lunch for school

Little Hands, Big Hearts is non-profit charity group that gives students in school cafeterias an option with their leftover, unopened food. Instead of throwing it away, kids can donate their milk and other sealed items, which they did not consume, to a homeless shelter in their area.

This turnkey organization runs itself once it is set up, and there is no expense to the school.

Now, that is a win-win for everyone.

Homeless shelters get much needed food items and schools make good use of food items being thrown away. So come on, make a difference in your community and get Little Hands, Big Hearts started at your school today.

Little Hands - Big Hearts was started by Marlene Eldred of Southlake, TX.

You can find her biography below.

Marlene Eldred's Biography

Marlene Eldred is a wife and a mother of four who saw a situation and thought she could make a difference.
She started Little Hands, Big Hearts in 2007 after noticing how much food was thrown away untouched, uneaten and unopened.  Little did she know her idea would take off so big.  All she wanted to do was collect discarded food and help feed the less fortunate.

Now there are five schools participating and many more inquiring about how to get started.  Since their short existence, Little Hands, Big Hearts has donated over 11 tons of milk and 500 lbs. of fruit and chips to feed the needy of Dallas/Ft. Worth.

This goes to show what can happen when you decide to make a difference.
